Year One (2009) Full Movie HD

I will start out by saying I was very excited about this film and thought surely with a cast as comedy-star studded as this it was going to be a fun summer film to unwind with...I was dead wrong. This is a textbook case of a film's funniest moments being shown in the trailer, the juvenile, brainless toilet humor (literally as in one scene where Jack Black's character eats a piece of bear crap) proved to be flat and boring. I was in a theater with a majority of junior high students (who seemed to be the target audience for this film) and the theater was silent throughout the first 35 minutes of the film. There was no chemistry between the characters, the "funny" moments felt awkward and forced and completely unoriginal. Michael Cera's character had a few mildly amusing lines, but Jack Black's usually oafish, raunchy wit seemed to not blend well at all with his character. The direction was very poor in what could have been a good summer comedy. I left the film after the first 40 or so minutes after an austin power's influenced Cain and Able scene. Don't waste your time with this one folks.

The Proposal (2009) Full Movie Online Divx

We went into this movie more or less out of despair; the cinema offerings seemed uniformly lousy and we simply wanted to see a movie that looked like fun. This one looked stupid: I'd seen Betty White promoting the movie on Jimmy Fallon's show and the scene shown was idiotic, though it did have a couple of amusing lines. Well, we were all pleasantly surprised. The outcome of the plot might be predictable, but the road getting there is surprisingly sharp and entertaining. There are quite a few witty lines and exchanges, and the delivery and timing of the two stars and, of course, of Betty White are just about perfect. Both of the lead characters have surprises in their backgrounds to reveal, and the settings are beautiful. There are one or two scenes that are clunkers, but even the dopey episode with White's Grandma Annie doing a ritualistic dance in the woods ends up having some relevance to a later plot event. The movie is well thought-out and well executed, and the actors create characters who engage us, even if we don't know anyone quite like them in our own lives.

Watch Whatever Works (2009) Full Movie DVDrip

If you like the tried-and-true formula of Woody Allen's movies, such as the pessimism, the sense of persecution, the "nobody understands the way life works, except me" point of view, then you will feel right at home with this movie, which may be seen as an extension of the HBO Larry David show. There are some funny, insightful and inspired comments throughout the movie, variations of the lines found in most of the post-Annie Hall films Woody Allen has made. This movie will have a very limited audience, will be popular in only a few select markets, and mildly amusing, or confusing in most of the rest of the country. The acting is excellent, the actors were very well cast, all of this making it look as if these actors are part of a long term ensemble.

Food, Inc. (2008) Dvdrip Full Movie Online HQ

I went into this hoping to learn some shocking secret to the food industry that would change my mind about what I ate. Instead, I got a lightweight group of shots of corporate buildings or industrial production that did not expose anything. Yes, it's true, there are large processing companies that process a lot of food. So what??? The suggestion here is that because they are big, something evil must be lurking behind those doors. But no such evidence is provided. The worst they could come up with were subtitles that said "such and such a company refused to grant us an interview!" Wooooooooo! How incriminating. The fact is, there is no real shocking truth revealed by this film about the food industry. In fact, there own arguments support the processors. For example, they site the well known instance a couple decades ago about the child that died from a Jack In The Box hamburger. One instance. Given the billions of portions of beef served since then, and not another instance of this has occurred, I would argue the food industry has done a great job of containing that risk. Additionally, they clearly hide facts about the Monsanto case, showing selected single sided arguments, without allowing Monsanto to voice their side of the story. They attempt to make a farmer who was being prosecuted by Monsanto look like a victim, showing only selected clips of his testimony in court, and not Monsanto's side. I'd expect at least to let them speak and tear them apart if they didn't have a point, but to exclude the other sides perspective makes the whole movie seem like a charade. At the end, all I learned was that big companies control the processing and feed animals a lot of corn. I'm one of them, because I enjoyed my popcorn throughout this movie, but not the fact that I spent $13 to see it. A waste of time.

Dead Snow 2009 Full Movie Divx

Wirkola surely spent time studying the genre of zombie movies thoroughly before setting to work on "Død Snø", paying endless tributes to the great classics of the genre throughout the movie, before grabbing it and tossing it over the top and into a strange land beyond.

The movie has so many things speaking in favor of it. It has a well thought-out plot, it has all the wonderful stereotypes of a horror movie in place, and more than anything, it follows the rules of the genre to the note.

From the barely glimpse horror in the early phases, to the ominous messenger who lays the groundwork for the story, to the stalking danger in the dark, and all the way to the outright shotgun-and-chainsaw last stand, Wirkola hardly hits a single note wrong.

If the region of Finnmark should have one national-romantic epic to its name, it should be this movie.

This movie is simply a must-see for the zombie affectionate!

Watch Tetro (2009) Full Movie Online For Free

I knew nothing about this film but went along to a private screening at Cannes just last week.

I wasn't sure whether the black and white was going to last much past the opening scenes, it did, and I feel it really helped this film portray the contrast and the depression felt by the main character Tetro.

The film slowly unravelled slowly, providing just enough snippets of the bigger underlying story obviously hidden away in the past of the 2 brothers to keep you engaged. Played out against the backdrop of modern day Argentina (it wasn't obvious when the period was until we get a glimpse of a modern day car about 25 minutes in) We have Bennie the young brother, visiting his manic depressive prospect playwright brother and catching up on lost time together. However it's evident from the start that the older brother, Tetro does not want to rekindle any family ties for reasons that unfold during the film.

Bennie discovers the latent stories written by Tetro and attempts to finish them in order for Tetro to be recognised for his brilliance, something Tetro himself seems unwilling to do.

I love what Coppola has done here, I loved the character and the vibe he set, particularly the little village theatre where Tetro worked and where we see a gaudy and low budget production of Faust being performed. We revisit this theatre for Bennie/Tetro's first play which doesn't go well! The underlying story is all about the father of the brothers, a top orchestral conductor who jumped on his far more talented brothers back (Tetro's uncle)to become the most renown conductor in New York. What then follows is his megalomaniacal fathers disregard of his son and subsequent stealing of his sweetheart. Coupled with the fact that Tetro was then responsible for his mothers death in a car crash and his father never forgave him and you have the perfect recipe for the depressive abyss that Tetro finds himself in at the start of the film where we come in.

We see some beautiful flashback sequences, in colour to provide the contrast to Tetro's mood, of past events but done in a theatrical almost ballet style. The ones toward the end of the film are nothing short of exquisite and really hammer home the depth of feeling.

The climax sees Bennie and Tetro finally rewarded by their peers at the regional arts festival for their joint work but also forced to face up to the ultimate family secret, one which I shan't give away here! The signs for a big twist are apparent but exactly what that is may be narrowed down but not apparent until it occurs in my opinion.

The actor who plays young Bennie has DeCaprio overtones and does bear a physical resemblance, Gallo as Tetro is menacing yet feeble behind his fake facade. Tetro's wife provided a perfect go between for the main characters, not to mention turning in a brilliant performance! Jose the cafe owner provides comic relief and 'Alone', the theatre critic is the spectre of potential humiliation and failure that Tetro must overcome and convince of his genius.

I loved this film and only gave it a 7 for the predictable ending which was a bit over dramatic and clichéd for what was otherwise a well acted and nicely designed bit of cinema. The story is rich and the scenery and sets are brilliant, particularly the Patagonian mountains.

Watch Moon (2009) Full Movie Online For Free

Go see this movie! I've been lucky enough to have an opportunity to see this movie down here at SXSW and I am the better for it.

You don't really stumble upon many riveting, independent, sci-fi films that look beautiful(let alone don't contain aliens and space magic) and capture major emotional themes successfully. Moon accomplishes this, and with very little CGI at that.

Sam Bell is an astronaut working for a corporation on the far side of the moon. His job? Maintaining a lunar facility and the automated machines which are harvesting the moon's surface for Helium 3. The harvested material is then sent back to Earth to use as energy.

Sam is on the very last leg of a three year contract and is quite anxious to return to his wife and daughter. Barring any incidents, Sam will be able to leave his solitude. But something does go wrong.

That said, tremendous acting by Sam Rockwell carries this film - mainly because he is basically the only person in the movie. I'm not talking about Cast Away meets the moon… This film explores loneliness much deeper than that, and with much more emotion as well. Luckily for us there are no pieces of sports equipment on which the lead dotes, but instead we're blessed with a monotonous talking robot(voiced by Kevin Spacey) reminiscent of Hal from 2001 notoriety.

I advise that people go see this film, not only to support Duncan, the director, and Sam, but also to explore to possibilities of space and the humanity of loneliness.

Don't go in expecting to find what I have discussed, but go in expecting to find something inside yourself.
